Although WRAL continues to report that Attorney General Roy Cooper subpoenaed seven gas stations for suspected price gouging, documents linked from their website show fourteen stations owned by seven companies were targeted.

FWIW, there were four in Troy and one each in High Point, Jefferson, Lilesville, Locust, Mt. Gilead, Murphy, Oakboro, Polkton, Rosman, and West Jefferson.

I’ve always heard gas prices were higher in the western counties — my parents used to comment on it when we visited grandparents in Asheville — but I am wondering if the distribution of these subpoenas means there were no complaints or allegations about stations which weren’t in small towns or High Point. No one in Raleigh? None in Charlotte? Wilmington all fair and happy?
