Private school statistics for the 2018-19 school year are here!

During the 2018-19 school year, 102,400 students attended 769 private schools in North Carolina.  Enrollment increased by 803 students or 0.8 percent from the year before.

Wake County’s private school population is now larger than Mecklenburg County’s.  Last school year, Wake County private schools enrolled 18,567 students, while Mecklenburg County enrolled 18,530 kiddos.

It is possible that the Opportunity Scholarship, Disability Grant, and Education Savings Account programs, which provide private school scholarships to low-income and special needs students, are responsible for some of these small gains.
