I’ll pop in on the Jeff Katz Show today at 3ish to talk year-in-review type stuff with Tara Servatius, who is sitting in for Jeff.

Trying to put a bow on 2007, a couple big local trends jump out. One, Peter Gorman has received whatever he wants to run CMS — from the school bond, to his “learning communities,” to modest jiggering with discipline. Two, the departure of long-term government institutions in Pam Syfert, Jim Pendergraph, Ron Tober, and CMPD Chief Stephens. Big power shift and vacuum there. Three, the transit tax campaign, which put local officials on record saying that mass transit spending helps congestion while making it almost impossible to try to pass a land use transfer tax in the county — not after Realtors and developers who oppose that levy helped save the transit half-cent.

Or something like that. Tune in to find out.

Update: With the Bhutto assassination in heavy rotation on all news outlets, I’ll probably pop on closer to 4pm.
