Representatives of city council met with business owners and advocates for the homeless to discuss ways to improve the scene downtown. As it turned out, many others attended the meeting, including those who viewed downtown as “our playground.”

Concerns raised included a proliferation of dog doo on the sidewalks, too many cigarette butts, peds and cyclists who do not obey traffic laws, and aggressive panhandlers who also disregard existing laws. This is progress. A couple years ago, people would still be demanding a seven-cent tax increase for vibrancy, and another 2-cent increase to work on defining the term and education and outreach to purchase buy-in.
