Just about every lot on Asheville’s Merrimon Avenue has some form of graffiti on it. Jon Elliston of the Mountain Xpress wrote:

On Dec. 10, the [Asheville Police Department] issued a lengthy statement detailing its crackdown on graffiti, which, depending on your perspective, is either a public art form to be proud of or a costly form of property damage.

Those commenting on his article are of the former persuasion. The world is the canvas of the sophisticated and socially-conscious artists, and people should quit whining about having to remove it from “their” buildings.
