Orange County Register columnist Steven Greenhut has a good column here in which he discusses property rights and governmental planning. Greenhut has also written a book on eminent domain, Abuse of Power, that contains numerous atrocious stories of the way politicians (usually urban liberals who always proclaim how concerned they are for the well-being of “the little guy”) cheat people out of their property just so they can sell it to big companies that are expected to increase the tax base.
