A bill in New York would authorize the unthinkable–prosecution of Medicaid fraud by DAs. Trying to learn the status of North Carolina law on this issue.
UPDATE:
North Carolina’s AG’s Mediciad Fraud Bureau gets permission from local
DAs (who have authority to prosecute all crimes) to prosecute Medicaid
fraud. The AG’s office also works with the US Attorney’s Office to get
some cases prosecuted in Federal court. So far, they have recovered
about $70 million.
