Chad Adams created some buzz in Lee County, where he is Vice-Chairman
of the County Commission, with his recent vote – the lone vote  –
against an 18 percent property tax increase for county residents. In
response, he received a thank-you letter from a citizen, published this week in the Sanford Herald.
The paper also published Adams’ commentary about the appropriate role
of government and the ease with which elected officials confiscate more
and more money from constituents in the name of “important” causes.
This week, he carried that theme to two groups. In Stanly County he
discussed the need for a Taxpayer Bill of Rights (TABOR) with the
Millennium Club, and in Fayetteville, he engaged the League of Women
Voters in a debate about downtown redevelopment efforts.
