Another interesting item from last night’s Guilford County commissioners’ meeting was the PTIA annual report presented by board chairman Henry Isaacson and executive director Ted Johnson. 2008 was a rough year, they said, with fuel costs causing the “loss of one of our lowfare carriers”—–they didn’t mention Skybus by name —- but hopes were high for the FedEx hub coming online in June or July.

Following the presentation, Commissioner Bruce Davis told the two airport officials the tone in their voices “doesn’t sound uplifting.”

There is one bright spot, though: Allegiant’s passenger numbers are way up. And to think they almost bailed out of PTIA, jealous of the goodies Skybus was getting.
