Asheville-Buncombe Community College’s president, President Hank Dunn, announced his intention to launch a political campaign to persuade voters to support a bond referendum this fall. The bond would pay for new buildings on both of the college’s campuses and a public safety training facility in Woodfin. Dunn says the focus needs to shift from concerns about new taxes to the people who will be provided jobs. Conservative activist Robert Malt reminded the press that higher taxes marginalize private employers’ abilities to hire and retain workers. Both Dunn and Malt have formed PAC’s to raise money to share their positions.
