Leading up to tomorrow night’s 21st anniversary dinner celebration with George Will, John Locke Foundation experts are busy this week sharing their knowledge with audiences across the state. Before the dinner, research staffers will welcome to the JLF office more than 40 county commissioners — from Cherokee County in the west to Camden County in the northeast — who want to learn about the free-market, limited-government approach to local government issues. Michael Sanera, Director of Research and Local Government Studies; Roy Cordato, Vice President for Research and Resident Scholar; Daren Bakst, Director of Legal and Regulatory Studies; Joseph Coletti, Director of Health and Fiscal Policy Studies; and Terry Stoops, Director of Education Studies, will make presentations. Meanwhile, Becki Gray, Vice President for Outreach, continues to update audiences across the state on top legislative issues. Gray spoke this week to Republican women’s clubs in Greensboro, Monroe, and Charlotte. The Jamestown News promoted the Greensboro speech, while the Charlotte Observer noted Gray’s Queen City appearance. (Gray also returns this weekend to the N.C. Spin syndicated television political talk show.) Freedom Newspapers covered the latest Citizen’s Constitutional Workshop in LaGrange featuring Sanera and N.C. History Project Director Troy Kickler. Americans For Prosperity is also promoting Sanera and Kickler’s efforts. Outside the constitutional events, Kickler discussed the Republican Party’s national and state history in a presentation to the Rowan County Republican Club. Today Kickler will discuss “Nathaniel Macon and the War of 1812” in a presentation at the Abbeville Institute’s Scholar Conference. JLF Executive Vice President Kory Swanson discussed career paths in nonprofit organizations in a presentation to an Elon University class. Mitch Kokai, Director of Communications, promoted the John Locke Foundation in a presentation to Charlotte-area Republicans at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Kokai also discussed legislative issues with the Fearrington Republican Club this week.
