In their Friday Report email, the NC Public School Forum argues that per-pupil expenditure rankings, which were published by the National Education Association (NEA) last month, should be viewed in context.  Exactly!

Those who spent months perpetuating the myth that North Carolina was 49th in the nation in per pupil spending did not view the rankings in the context of budget changes in other states.  I have been saying this all along.  Rather, the few advocacy groups that attempted to defend the talking point adjusted North Carolina’s spending figure to reflect changes from the 2011 state budget and crammed it into an old NEA ranking.  I applaud the NC Public School Forum for calling them out.
