In my days as an editorial writer I always felt that, since and
editorial is supposed to represent the institution of the newspaper, the
goal should be to convert and persuade, not to anger. Its wording
should be dignified, free of slang and sarcasm. Apparently the edit
board of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer don’t feel that way.
This is a classic example of an editorial that is simply taking up
space. It preaches to the left-wing choir and slanders everyone else.
It reads like the worst example of a puerile editorial in a college
newspaper. No wonder newspapers are dying.
