I have long been a fan of the transparency demonstrated by Asheville City Council – even if I disagree with most of the body’s positions. I am, however, disappointed in this week’s agenda, which sports a semi-long consent agenda, and then three matters of business. One has no supporting documents, and the other two have only brief resolutions. The agenda items pertain to “solidarity,” “equality,” and “liaising.” Translating, the city is going to discuss its can-of-worms water disagreement, defend same-sex unions, and talk about hiring a lobbyist.
