Despite claims to the contrary, North Carolina’s economy is struggling to an even greater extent than those of its neighboring states. Too many politicians and pundits are caught in the trap of viewing this state as a leader, when it’s actually a laggard.
John Hood makes that case in his new book, Our Best Foot Forward, which also outlines a 10-point Carolina Manifesto for Growth designed to deal with the state’s problems. Hood discussed highlights from the book today during a presentation to the John Locke Foundation’s Shaftesbury Society. In the video clip below, Hood discusses a key roadblock to the reforms North Carolina needs.
