The headline on the McCatchy story is “Pew research: Obama, advisers are still vetting D.C. churches.” The story, however, never mentions Pew and doesn’t mention any research done on Obama’s church search. Why did McClatchy’s copy editors feel the need to attribute the fact of Obama’s advisers vetting churches to Pew research? Beats me.
UPDATE: My wife just explained the headline to me. It was another pun headline. What the copy editor meant was that the Obamas were doing “pew research” to find a church. OK, I get it now. But it was pretty lame. To be instantly understandable, pew should have been used somehow without a capital letter.
