The Journal’s Richard Craver raises the possibility that Quaintance will ask for local incentives. Certainly they will seek tax credits, although the Reynolds building is not yet eligible for historic tax credits.
As you can probably imagine, I appreciated their skepticism over the proposed stimulus-funded downtown G’boro hotel that Guilford County Commission Chair Skip Alston stood to make a dollar.
So they seem to know a viable project when they see one—which means they take the risk and spend their money, which in turn entitles them to make some money.
