A Charlotte-area committee is considering new taxes and subsidies to deal with a perceived dearth of affordable housing, but JLF Vice President Chad Adams told the Charlotte Observer that the committee’s suggestions “would encourage government dependency and increase taxes on private developers, who pass on those costs to other customers.” The Observer also responded to the Pope Center for Higher Education Policy’s recent report on barriers to entry in the North Carolina legal profession. (That report also prompted a political cartoon in The Insider.) Meanwhile, Meck Deck blogger Jeff Taylor joined Tara Servatius on WBT Radio Monday night to discuss transit finances, including fare hikes for the Charlotte Area Transit System.
