Note that the section of S. Elm -Eugene between JJ Drive and Vandalia Road is being mentioned as a project to be possibly funded with nearly $13 million in fed stimulus money slated for the City of Greensboro.

Just so happens I had the opportunity to drive that section of S. Elm-Eugene yesterday and I don’t see anything wrong with the road. In fact, much of it looks just like the photo on GDOT’s Web site showing a section of S. Elm-Eugene that was redone as part of a bond passed by voters back in 2000. I driving right before 6:00, which still rush hour, and the section seemed to handle what traffic there was just fine.

The only thing I can figure out is the city is counting on more development out that way, meaning the road will have to widened. But I just don’t see the need right now, at least from behind my steering wheel.

Now, as for GTA’s $17 million headquarters, you have the construction jobs to build it, then what? Where’s the economic stimulus?
