Madame Commissioner:
I am heartened by your commitment to pursuing all possible avenues for mitigating traffic congestion, and hence, ozone in Charlotte and Mecklenburg County. However, your exemplary record of seeking out new and innovative solutions to public policy issues was never in question.
Your efforts may have put telecommuting in the basket of congestion solutions, but my critique is that telecommuting should be a primary, if not the primary, response to concerns about occasional high-ozone days in Charlotte. Right now I simply see no evidence that is happening. The overwhelming focus continues to be on using CATS or carpooling, followed by biking or walking to work.
That, frankly, is dumb. But I look forward to working with you in changing that.
