KC Johnson, whose Durham In Wonderland blog was essential reading during the Duke lacrosse hoax, takes apart the Group of 88 today. He points out how the left-wing professors, mostly from African-American Studies and other social science disciplines, have been trying desperately to rehabilitate themselves since issuing their much-criticized Duke Chronicle ad in the spring of 2006. One of the efforts to rewrite history is the notion that the “something” that “happened” to accuser Crystal Mangum, according to their ad, was not rape, necessarily, but possibly just drunkenness. (OK, you can quit laughing now.) Here’s what KC had to say about that:

If the Group took out a full-page ad every time Mangum was incapacitated by drugs or alcohol, the Chronicle’s advertising budget would have been overflowing for years.
