As usual, mystery surrounds a request for incentives down in Davidson County:

Steve Googe, executive director of the Davidson County Economic Development Commission, asked commissioners during a public hearing to grant the incentives to the three companies. He told the governing body that the projects “would stimulate the economy” and “result in the creation of good jobs for hard-working citizens in Lexington and Davidson County.”

One of the projects, referred to as “R-Two,” is an unnamed logistics company that would invest a minimum of $5 million in Davidson County. Googe would not unveil the name of the logistics company because R-Two didn’t grant him permission.

“They’re negotiating on multiple sites, and they have multiple locations throughout the Southeast,” Googe said. “They would not like their employees to be aware of what they’re proposing to do. They also are always concerned about their competition.”

In spite of this considerable lack of information, county commissioners unanimously granted the request.
