My newsletter explains what it is and why it now threatens Wake County.

The main point is this: Six different transportation experts — some advocates for light rail, and some skeptics of it — have over the past two years all had the same message:

The Triangle area, including Wake County, is too decentralized, too spread out, and not nearly population-dense enough to support expensive light rail.

The outgoing county commission heeded those warnings in full keeping with their proper function and duty. The incoming commission seem inclined to deny expert consensus and take that harmful, costly leap of folly.
