Due to political demand, (not public) the city of Raleigh is spending millions of dollars to capitalize on the shrinking convention center market.
For fun I looked here just to see what current utilization was like. Of worth, the Convention Center will be utilized five times between now and December of ’05. And two of those events (Meridith’s graduation and the AKA Debutante Ball) are local.
Now, for a more interesting utilization, the Convention Center Commission is using it about six times during the same time period for their meetings. I guess they just need more space!!!
So I hope the economy just booms for the Hair Symposium in June, the Antique Extravaganza in July and the Caesar crucade later in the same month.
During the months of August, September, October and most of November, the only sounds you might hear there will be that of your tax money hardly at work!
