Raleigh residents will be voting on a $75 million transportation bond in the fall. On Tuesday, council members approved putting the bond on the ballot. If approved, it will require a property tax rate hike of 1.12 cents.
The council’s move, while setting the overall size of the bond package, didn’t specify what the proceeds from the bond sale will be used for. Council members plan to iron out a detailed project after a special meeting Monday, June 24, at 3 p.m. at the Avery C. Upchurch Government Complex.
With no specifics yet on what will be included, it isn’t possible to know whether the projects are valid or not. According to TBJ, council members Odom, Gaylord, and Crowder voted no. That raises questions about why.
