The Raleigh Planning Department rolled out its first draft of the city?s new comprehensive plan yesterday evening (you can download the 380-page document here). About 400 residents attended the gathering in the street-level mezzanine of the sparkling (and pricey) Raleigh convention center.
Mitchell Silver, director of planning, Jane Dembner of HNTB (the city paid the consulting firm $600,000 to help form the comp plan), and Ken Bowers, deputy planning director, all spoke. Pictures below.

The N&O did a limited spot news story here. Speakers focused on the usual suspects ? environment, sustainability, stakeholders, transit, etc. No mention of property rights, tax and cost of living expenses, or general freedom. Not that I expected any.
