According to a breaking report in the News and Observer, Raleigh will submit a priority list of transportation projects today in search of state and federal funding.  Problem is, the requests aren?t all for road projects.   Money for roads comes from the tax on gasoline and as pointed out in numerous Locke reports (here and here and here) should be used only for road projects.  Raleigh?s wish list includes $5.6 million for pedestrian and bike projects.  Until all of North Carolina?s roads are fixed, all the bridges repaired and new roads built to relieve congestion, bike and pedestrian projects should not be part of any transportation priority list.
