The HPE follows up on the washed-out Randleman Dam pump station agreement between High Point and Greensboro. Evidently the Greensboro City Council voted unanimously last Wednesday to pull out of the agreement. Again, if it was reported, I missed it.

While the Rhino’s John Hammer (a regular at PTRWA meetings, so it’ll be interesting to see if he has anything in today’s issue) holds High Point responsible for slowing progress on the pump station down, High Point holds PTRWA responsible for slowing progress down, period:

Mayor Pro Tem Chris Whitley has little confidence in the authority’s ability to build anything. High Point has yet to accept ownership of the $9 million discharge line built by the authority because of problems in its construction.

“Their success rate is very low,” Whitley said. “They (authority) haven’t proven they can get anything done without problems, within the time frame or within budget.

“Right now, they’re 0 and 2. They built the (Randleman) dam and the discharge line, and both of them have problems. (Now), the two major buyers of water have no control over our destiny.”

We have been waiting a long time for water to start flowing from the Randleman Dam. Guess we’re going to have to wait a little longer. The question is how long we’ll have to wait for an explanation from the Greensboro City Council. Uh, local paper of record? Have I missed something?
