The ‘Wellness Center’ (mind the gratuitous euphemism) at UNC-Greensboro is yet another perpetrator of the “one in four” rape hoax.

An act of assault can happen to anyone, and college students can be more susceptible. According to the Wellness Center, one in four women is sexually assaulted in their college years.
“It’s especially important on a college campus where this happens more frequently,” said Anne Widney, a graduate assistant working in the Wellness Center.

Rape is a serious problem. And at UNCG, the serial rapist responsible for several off-campus rapes is still at large. But let’s cut the 1-in-4 BS, please, no matter how well intentioned. Rape doesn’t need to be politicized — and therefore trivialized.
