Thanks for linking that article today, Paul. It is really, really good and worth reading by all Locker Roomies. My favorite part is the point about how government subsidies destroy the creation of truly popular and effective film and art (Hollywood, Bollywood, and Hong Kong dominate the world movie market and are commercially driven, no accident there). I also liked the conclusion about religious institutions, which I found hard to accept until I checked it out with other sources: that America has more houses of worship per capita (churches, synagogues, temples, mosques, etc.) that any country on Earth.

The opening quote is also cool:

“A country that makes a film like ‘Star Wars’ deserves to rule the world.”

— Philip Adams, former chairman of the Australian Film Commission
