Colorado and Illinois administer the ACT to 100% of their public school students. If NC’s DPI had the nerve to do it, I think I could support that. That would not only give students a college-entrance exam that actually gauged achievement rather than “aptitude” — the SAT was just changed a few years ago to do that –, it would give us a nationally-standardized test to compare our state’s performance with the rest of the country … [ahem]just like our private-, religious-, and homeschool students have done for years.

If nothing else, it would probably mean the death of our Carolina-centric testing program within eighteen months. Think of the money that would be saved there alone.
