I read with interest the e-mail (passed along by Yes!Weekly’s Jordan Green) from Greensboro Police Capt. Charles Cherry explaining his administrative leave pending a fitness for duty evaluation which was

Guarino sums it up well when he says management of Cherry’s issues is problematic because it’s “‘medicalizing’ a pattern of work behavior for which he should instead be held accountable.” In other words, Cherry is being recommended for the fitness for duty evaluation because he’s filing too many grievances.

What is clear is the mismanagement of the police department is so deep and wide that whoever the new police chief is will have his work cut out.

It will indeed be interesting to see specifically what evidence Rev. Nelson Johnson has that makes clear that the “‘fit for duty evaluation status’ is a fabrication and is part of a thinly veiled, desperate attempt by the GPD to avoid addressing the many pending grievances and the related culture of corruption and double standards.”
