The NC Department of Public Instruction has signed on to be a 2010 Census partner/colluder.

From an NCDPI press release:

The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) is partnering with the U.S. Census Bureau to help ensure a complete and accurate count of the state’s population on the 2010 Census. As a part of this effort, liaisons from the NCDPI will work with the Census Bureau and serve on the North Carolina Complete Count Committee. The agency also will work to raise awareness about the census through newsletter articles and other coverage of census events and programs.

“The census defines who we are as a state and a nation,” said State Superintendent June Atkinson. “With more than $400 billion in federal funds at stake every year, we are committed to making sure North Carolina’s 2010 Census data is as complete and accurate as possible so that our state receives the resources it needs and deserves.”

How pathetic is the notion that the “census defines who we are as a state and a nation?” Geez.
