George raises the specter of treating carpentry like public schools–but that might be a good idea so long as we had a program of “carpentry choice.” So that people could opt out of the system we could give everyone a “carpentry voucher.” This way they can go to the private sector when the “carpentry district” isn’t serving them well. And don’t forget the possiblity of “charter carpentry” firms. Really George, haven’t you learned from being in the conservative think-tank world all these years that any problems associated with compulsory government services can be remedied with a simple voucher program and a little “choice.”
