Terry, Hal:
While Latin rite (Roman) Catholic Church officials retain the requirement of celibacy for priests, Eastern (broadly Byzantine) rite Catholic bishops continue the tradition of ordaining married men to the priesthood within their eparchies. The stipulation in the Eastern rite is that the marriage occur before ordination. Also, married preists are ineligible to become bishops. Outside of the U.S., this is the norm in the Eastern Catholic Church. Ukrainian Catholic bishops in Canada routinely ordain married men to the priesthood, for example.

In general, Eastern Catholic bishops in the U.S. have refrained from ordaining married men, bowing to early pressure to conform to Latin norms from Roman Catholic bishops. This is changing slowly and quietly, however, as some Ukrainian Catholic bishops have resumed exercising their right to ordain married men as Eastern Catholic clergy.
