This is the great blind spot for leftists, who think that wealth and prosperity are givens, no matter what burdens, disincentives, and distortions the government heaps upon the productive sector.
As Terry Miller writes in his article, “President Obama professes desire to foster prosperity, environmental protection, poverty reduction and better health care. How ironic, then, that his economic proposals so consistently ignore or undermine the one system — free enterprise capitalism — that has proven best able to achieve those goals.”
