As a recent political refugee fleeing Maryland, let me ‘splain where that Smart Growth nightmare came from. It was all part of Gov. Parris Glendening’s bid to ramp up his Sierra Club ratings in order to land a job with the Gore Administration, possibly at Interior.
Needless to say, that did not work out, but an office full of busybodies does help push up the cost of development in Maryland, a hidden tax on top of an already high tax burden.
