Jon, you might have listened to a Scottish rock band in the past 35 years without knowing it. Simple Minds, The Proclaimers, Teenage Fanclub, Jesus and Mary Chain, Aztec Camera, Travis, Annie Lennox, Primal Scream, Hipsway, Nazareth, Sheena Easton, and of course, Rod Stewart: All Scottish. In the ’80s there was a Scottish rock band with a North Carolina connection: it was named after the Steely Dan song “Deacon Blue”. And then there’s the best Scottish rock band ever: Big Country. Franz Ferdinand, by the way, is excellent.
