Speculation was —-then wasn’t— that Greensboro City Council member Zack Matheny would bring up a resolution opposing legislation that would place restrictions on municipal broadband at Tuesday night’s meeting. Instead fellow council member Nancy Vaughan brought up the resolution, which passed by a 6-3 vote, with Danny Thompson, Trudy Wade and Mayor Bill Knight voting ‘no.’

At issue was who got what information and when they got it. Wade, for example, said that she never got an FYI from City Manager Rashad Young that the issue was going to come up.

But the most interesting part was when the council postponed debate until later in the meeting —after speakers from the floor —to make sure everyone read the bill before they voted on the resolution.
