That reminds me of how Hillary, when running for the Senate, said that she had been a Yankees fan for many years. Why is it that politicians can’t just say, “I’m not interested in sports?” (Or whatever the category might be.) I suppose it’s the gnawing fear that to admit indifference to anything will invite accusations of not “caring” and therefore losing votes.

Or maybe it’s just that dissimulation runs so much in the politician’s bloodstream that he can’t help it.
