My roommate at Clemson went on to get his Ph.D from Georgia Tech. He and his fellow graduate students coined the phrase “minimum publishable increment” to describe the lowest amount of real progress necessary to score a paper in a journal, somewhere.
I see the concept is fully understood and promoted by our state’s universities as well. L’audace indeed.
