More grist for the mill.  Some of you may be familiar with Paul Johnson’s book “Intellectuals.”  He documents the hypocrisy of leading intellectuals:
Rousseau, Marx, Tolstoy, Sartre, Brecht, etc.

“This book is an examination of the moral and judgmental credentials of
certain leading intellectuals to give advice to humanity on how to conduct
its affairs.”

One of my favorite passages:  “In all his [Marx’s] researches into the
iniquities of British capitalists, he came across many instances of low-paid
workers but he never succeeded in unearthing one who was paid literally no
wages at all.  Yet such a worker did exist, in his own household.”

His housekeeper, Helen Demuth, worked as a virtual slave for Marx for 45
years and bore his son. Marx never recognized his son nor supported him
financially.
