Drew, I love reading political speeches. And by love, I mean the kind of love a man has for a fine ingrown toenail.

Kerry’s rhetoric is, frankly, odd. Here he is speaking to a group of college students that he says he’s counting on, and he manages to insult them more than once.

I am a fan of this mixed metaphor, however:

“When I left this state two months ago, I was riding a wave of momentum that you all built from the ground up.? And over the next seven months, I?m counting on New Hampshire to keep us riding that wave all the way to the White House.”

Speaking of JFK, you had to like this:
“This week, I?ll be unveiling a Compact with the Next Generation ? your generation ? that says we?re going to bring back the basic bargain at the heart of America:? if you?re willing to do right by America, than America?s willing to do right by you.”

Ask not ? er, go ahead and ask what your country can do for you, that is, if you can do for your country.
