In a ruling that should surprise no one, U.S. district Court Judge Catherine Eagles ruled that the N.C. General Assembly unconstitutionally redistricted the Greensboro City Council in 2015. As a result, citizens will cast their votes in the fall council election based on the districts as they currently exist.

The lone defendant in the lawsuit, the Guilford County Board of Elections–did not offer a defense in the lawsuit, so an appeal is unlikely.
