Some people are very happy to see Carol Folt heading for Chapel Hill: people at Dartmouth. Here’s a quotation from post on Dartblog by Joe Asch, a Dartmouth grad and close observer of campus affairs:

“In Carol’s case, she doesn’t even remotely have the skill set to run UNC, arguably a much tougher task than leading nimble Dartmouth — which we all saw was beyond her. Should we say so?

I’ve been approached by various papers and TV stations in the Chapel Hill/Raleigh area to comment on Folt’s suitability for the UNC chancellorship. Again, what’s a boy to do?

I go to my default position: Tell the Truth. We do no service to the folks at UNC by hiding Carol’s inadequacies. And wouldn’t we want them to do the same for us, were we making a similar mistake in hiring someone from Chapel Hill?
