Turns out Rebecca Withrow not only was raping an 11-year-old boy in her classroom, but she also was having an affair with his father, The News & Observer reports today.

If Withrow is convicted, she could spend more than 22 years in prison.

That’s all?

The N&O also dug up this fun fact:

During the past five years, more than 200 teachers, coaches or school administrators in North Carolina have been charged with sexually abusing their students.

So far this school year, 28 cases of sexual behavior between teachers and students have been reported to the state Department of Public Instruction, said Harry Wilson, an attorney for the state school board. Throughout most of the 1990s, there were fewer than 20 such cases a year.

But let’s remember that it’s unfair to tar an entire school, school system, administration, the teaching profession, etc., because of (in this state) 200 bad eggs.

And of course, remember that everybody’s own school and school system is good, unlike everybody else’s.
