If you think you’re a victim of Big Oil “unfairly” reducing gasoline prices now that they’re supposedly feeling political heat (say, remember Roy‘s post that oil companies might be purposefully underpricing gasoline in order to reduce the risk of being hauled before preening pols mugging for the cameras?), well, just imagine how you’d feel if you bet on ever-higher oil prices? Bloomberg has an article about the poor investors whose bets on $100/barrel oil are now worthless. My favorite quotation: “People who have put out extreme price scenarios have become very quiet.”

So if you think the lower gasoline prices merely put off Big Oil’s ploy to enslave us all to $3-a-gallon-OR-MORE gasoline!!!!11! ? sorry, got all worked up for a second ? then just imagine if you thought the Big Plot had already begun and placed your expensive wagers according. Big Oil, victimizing us with high prices and low prices. Now THAT’S evil.
