Roy, when “Time Won’t Let Me” by The Outsiders came out in
1966 a rumor started that Maynard Ferguson had been hired to hit that
high trumpet note in the song since no one else could do it. That’s an
urban myth apparently since it’s not mentioned on this Outsider-related site.
