Coming to this cold, my first take is G.D. Gearino is blowing this out of proportion. Linda Williams may just set her sights very low, ie, only tries to give “readers plenty to talk about” no matter the merits. This may just be dumb and wrong, not partisan. But which is worse? I say the former, Gearino may think the latter. Nasty? I don’t care. Politics is nasty. The arbitrary application of state power is always nasty.
Further, had someone posted a hurried email of mine throwing things out for discussion and then presume to read my mind, I might write an email calling them a phony gasbag too.
Or worse.
