Just as many people predicted, “hate crime” laws have now led to desires to ban “hate speech.” People are no longer free to hate. Come to think of it, we aren’t free to run campaign ads against those we now must secretly hate, either, at least a month or two before an election (I forget how long it is and didn’t feel like looking it up).

Of course, I claim to be a Christian so I don’t hate anybody, secretly or otherwise, although I bet some people don’t believe that. I’d better watch my language. Gail Houston, from John’s linked article, said the images of aborted fetuses may cross the line of free speech. Can somebody tell me where that line is so I don’t cross it?

“Women have enough to deal with when they’re pregnant and they don’t want to be pregnant,” Houston said. “They shouldn’t have to deal with huge inflammatory pictures and people screaming at them.”

I didn’t pick up from the story that there were many participants carrying unwanted pregnancies. Regardless, I can identify. I often find myself in situations of my own making when I don’t want to be in them. Like when I overeat and feel bloated.

But then I suppose I can always get rid of that.
